Implants

Implants are titanium structures placed in the jaw of the patient, through an operation, to immitate roots of the teeth. Implants are biologically compatible and are applied successfully to cases with one or multiple or complete tooth loss.

During the operation, a small incision is made on the soft tissue and thus a site is prepared on the bone for the implant. Then, the implant is placed in the site and the soft tissues are put together with the help of sutures which are taken off a week later.

2-6 months are needed for the implant to integrate with the bone tissue depending on the density of the bone structure. After the completion of integration, the process for restoration can start.

The success rate of implants today is 95 percent. However, with smokers the failure rate is almost 20 percent. Consuming alcohol also decreases the success of implants.

Implants can be applied to any healthy individual. Oral hygiene, correct diagnosis and sterile operatation environment play an important role regarding the success of integration of the implant.
